Our Story
Eastfield Farm Cottage & Farm 200 Years Of History
The farm cottage dates back more than 200 years, is full of wonderful character and remains at the heart of the farmyard setting. The classical farmyard has been kept as per its original form and includes buildings used in the past for horses, cattle, granary and farm machinery. Today the whole site has been tastefully developed to take full advantage of the quality farm buildings and the 10 acres of land set in a tranquil rural location.
Central to the development of the farm over several years has been the upgrading and transformation of the main farmyard buildings. Firstly the main granary underwent a classical barn conversion, followed by some three facelifts for the farm cottage itself. In the last 3 years, the farmyard conversion was finally completed when the machinery barn and horse stables were converted to provide a holiday let property.

Taking on an old farm at the age of 63 years was indeed a big challenge and came off the back of a vivid dream, but never being afraid to do the undo-able the challenge was on. Born out of a dream and a real passion for countryside life, horses and animals was, therefore, the driving force for taking on the challenge. Purchasing the farm also created the opportunity to return to my Lincolnshire roots and my countryside background, returning, in fact, to be close to the village of Welton where I first lived with my then young family in the mid 70's.
The farm was purchased in 2003 and it was taken on knowing there was a lot of work to do, a lot of money needing to be spent but I quickly began to form a vision of turning potential into reality. I also accepted that pursuing the dream would mean taking a few steps back if I was to make the big steps forward. This meant living in a caravan, using a shed for an office and working around the clock to get things moving.
Converting the granary barn was one of the first big jobs taken on and then jobs that followed were endless in the early years including property renovations, planting trees and hedges, building fences, excavating ponds, building stables, building a manege, repairing and building roads, building a garage and outbuildings including the farm office, creating paddocks and extending water supplies. The list was endless but the dream and vision were unfolding.
At the center of the dream and vision was my passion to own horses and animals in general and as the farm was developed and equestrian rights were gained in 2007 the dream to reality was certainly taking an interesting and progressive shape. firstly the farm cottage got its own stables, paddocks and tack room. This was followed by a small stable yard from which a miniature horse sanctuary was started, and moving on the facilities were extended to accommodate all horses of all sizes. this then led to eight stables, manege, lots of separate paddocks and a jump field. The icing on the cake was when I got my first horse at the age of 65 years - Arabia. My dream was quickly coming true. Fast forward to today to 2023 to find a mature tranquil Equestrian Farm and small holding situated only a short distance away from the lovely village of Welton. The farm cottage is now supported by a holiday let property. The private stabling and supporting facilities accommodate some 12 horses which are a mixture of miniature ponies and large horses and provide a peaceful setting. Cats, chickens and ducks also all play their part in making Eastfield Equestrian Farm a special place to be and an opportunity to share the dream.

Passion for horses and animals has been the main driver for the development of the 10 acres of land on the farm. In 2007 equestrian rights were gained and this initially was followed by two stables being erected in the farm cottage paddocks along with appropriate fencing. This promoted the development of a stable yard housing eight stables and tack rooms. This was done progressively over a number of years along with improvements in overall facilities. Today the small equestrian home offers quality private stabling where horses and riders can enjoy the tranquil setting and the many facilities which now exists: stabling, manege, jump field, numerous paddocks, canter straight and hay storage. Typically 10 to 12 horses are around to provide the atmosphere and homely feeling sought after, and each horse and each rider is always encouraged to work as a team at all times.
Never forgetting the miniature horses, which have been an important part of the farms equestrian development, and who now have a bespoke homely setting in the small holding - they bridge the horses with the animals which includes ducks (they have there own pond) and cats. Regrettably, the farm lost its Rottweiler dog - The Duke 2 years ago and that really was a sad day for the whole team. Looking forward a nanny goat could be on the list but we will have to wait and see.

Mixing today, business strategies with business passion and farm setting pleasure, combined with years of experience and skill all making a unique mix of excellence that Turnaround delivered from Eastfield Equestrian Farm. Founded in 1992 Turnaround was started in Staffordshire by its long-serving Managing Director Roy Grundy, where Turnaround emerged from a tough UK industrial background by working with and helping ailing companies survive a time when the industry in the UK was experiencing hard times and major marketing contraction. This was then followed by the emergence and growth of SME s (small to medium enterprises) where Turnaround has played a part in the market sector by working with companies to introduce strategic changes and major developments. Starting new companies is a risky business, as too is helping ailing ones because these statistics show the failing rates are high, but trying to go it alone makes failure even more likely. sounds negative but unfortunately it's often true and therefore Turnaround set off to use its experience and excellence to minimise failure and help create success. "watching your back while seeing your future" is a key brand line of Turnaround as too is the fact that taking advise at the right time can prevent a high cost for attempting to "event the wheel". HELP IS ON HAND so never feel afraid to ask.
Formed in 1994, GRUNDY ENTERPRISES LTD - G.E.L was first used to bring together a number of business ideas and developments, and since that beginning, it has effectively formed a corporate umbrella to house the many ongoing business consulting activities and opportunities that have emerged over the years. At the core of G.E.L from day one of its conceptions has been its turnaround consulting arm, where business planning, strategic changes, and developments, general support, acquisitions, disposals, and merges have all been carried out successfully. The nature of this work has by definition meant dealing with business failures as well as business success but turnaround has always fought hard to ease the pain if a full recovery has not been possible. Leading on from this work has been many business assignments, including interim management and directorships, where business planning and the introduction of strategic changes have been central to the assistance provided. Working in the SME market has also opened doors to helping smaller companies plus taking on business ownership and finding many new business contacts. For example, GEL has developed excellent business dealings with China since the first meeting in 1996 Today G.E.L plays its part in the business activities at Eastfield equestrian farm and it maintains a strong sense of awareness for new ideas and new challenges.
